Robert L. Armbruster, 76, was born to Jacob and Mary Armbruster on May 2, 1923 in Alfalfa County, Oklahoma. He died Wednesday, April 5 at Kiowa District Hospital.

Bob graduated from Driftwood high school in 1941, and then attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva. He married Doris Thomason on December 24, 1943, in Cherokee, Oklahoma.

Bob was a farmer/stockman in the Burlington, Oklahoma, area all of his life. He was an avid community supporter, serving on the Alfalfa County Fair Board for 18 years and the Burlington Cooperative Association Board. In recognition of his support for youth, he was named Burlington FFA Honorary Chapter Farmer and Honorary Oklahoma State 4H Volunteer. He was active for many years in the Oklahoma Cattleman's Association and National Cattlemen's Beef Association. Bob was a member of Burlington Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Lillian, Helen and Alma and brother Walter.

He is survived by wife Doris; son Stephen and wife Patty, Stillwater, Oklahoma; son Robert and wife Melva, Kiowa, Kansas; son Alan and wife Karen, Burlington, Oklahoma; and daughter Beth Peterson and husband Dick, Frisco, Texas. Surviving grandchildren include Kate Maloney and husband Craig, Hooker, Oklahoma; Andy Armbruster, Manhattan, Kansas; Kelli Armbruster, Burlington, Oklahoma; Layne Armbruster, Burlington, Oklahoma; Aimee Bradfute and husband Josh, Killeen, Texas; and Dylan Peterson, Frisco, Texas. A great grandson, Garrett Maloney, Hooker, Oklahoma, also survives him.

Services will be held Saturday, April 8, at 10 AM at Burlington Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with burial at Keith Cemetery. Sam and Kitty Fisher will officiate.

Memorials may be made to Burlington Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) or to the Burlington Education Foundation, designated for FFA or 4H.
