A service of remembrance and celebration of life for Pastor Thurman Sparks, 87, of Goltry, Okla., will be Monday, May 18, 2015, 10 a.m. at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home with Pastor Joseph Stubbs officiating. Interment will follow in the Karoma Cemetery in Goltry, Okla.

Thurman was born Feb. 22, 1928, in Coushatta, La., the son of Joe and Maggie Harper Sparks, and passed away May 14, 2015. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during WWII. Thurman was united in marriage to Betty Harman Jan. 14, 1949, in Enid, Okla. He was employed by Gold Spot Dairy for over 30 years. He was an ordained minister of the gospel for over 50 years and served his last pastorate at Victory Bible Church in Enid, Okla. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his grandchildren, playing his guitar, and spending time with his family. He will be remembered for sharing Jesus Christ with everyone he met.

Survivors include his wife Betty, three daughters, Larue Buller and her husband, Lyle of Meno, Okla., Lavatta Sparks of Enid, Rhonda Sanders and her husband Vernon Jr. of Goltry, Okla.; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild, and a sister, Bobbie LaNell Nemitz of Ringgold, La. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, O.T. and one grandson, Todd.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Goltry Fire Department with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home custodian of the fund. Online condolences may be left and the service can be viewed at ladusauevans.com.
