Goltry-Funeral service for Marie May Schmidt, 83, will be 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at Pleasant View Church of God in Christ mennonite in Goltry with Patrick Koehn officiating. Burial will be in Karoma Cemetery, east of Goltry, with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home Inc. of Helena.

Memorials may be shared with the family at www.lanmanmemorials.com.

Viewing will be today from 1 p.m.until 7 p.m. with the family present 5 p.m. until 7 p.m..

Funeral for Ivan Schmidt will be 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, at Pleasant View Mennonite Church. Dennis Koehn, Randy Schmidt and Patrick Koehn will officiate. Burial will follow at Karoma Cemetery, east of Goltry, with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc., Helena. Viewing will be 1-7 p.m. Sunday, with family present 5-7. (www.lanmanmemorials.com.)

Ivan was born March 11, 1924, to Allen and Anna Decker Schmidt, at Chickasha, and passed from this life Oct. 9, 2014, at Moundridge Manor in Moundridge, Kan.

In 1926, the Allen Schmidt family moved to Morton, Texas. Ivan likely attended school there. In 1938, they moved to Burns, Kan.

Ivan came to the Goltry area when he was 18 and lived with his uncle and aunt, Elmer and Rhoda Penner.

On Jan. 31, 1947, he married Marie Boese. They had one daughter, Shirley. Marie passed away Nov. 6, 2009.

Ivan and Marie made their home on a farm northwest of Goltry. Ivan lived on the same farm for 65 years. He moved to the Moundridge Manor May 23, 2012.

Ivan was known as a good farmer and meticulous carpenter. He served on the local school board and Farmer’s Exchange Board. He was a member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church in Goltry.

Survivors include his daughter, Shirley Hensley of Lockesburg, Ark.; one sister, Edna Giesel of Burns, Kan.; two brothers, Ferd of Burns, Kan., and Wayne of Graham, Ga.

Those preceding him in death include his wife, Marie; three brothers, Samuel, at age one and half years, Obed and Virgil; two sisters, Lois Schmidt and Elizabeth Dirks.
