Enid, OK — The funeral for Ervin Schmidt, 93, will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2009, at Zoar Mennonite Church, Goltry. Burial will be in Karoma Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Helena. Viewing will be 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m.
He was born April 14, 1915, on a farm near Goltry to John and Lena Base Schmidt and died Friday, March 13, 2009, in Enid.
He was a graduate of Goltry High School and attended Oklahoma Bible Academy for a Bible course. He farmed most of his life until 1985. They moved into Goltry in 1977. He was a member of Zoar Mennonite Church, Goltry, where he taught Sunday school, served on Goltry Farmers Exchange Board, the Church Board and the OBA Board.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred of Goltry; two daughters, Darlene Koehn of Enid, and Delores Rosfeld of Peabody, Kan.; one son, Kenneth Schmidt of Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Celesta Thomas of Enid, and Elfrieda Jones of Lincoln, Neb.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and one granddaughter.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Zoar Mennonite Church or “Back to the Bible” radio broadcast.
