Hurley M. Munyon
The funeral for Hurley M. Munyon, 77, of Goltry, OK., will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Community Bible Church in Goltry. Dale Cummins will officiate. Burial will be at Karoma Cemetery, southeast of Goltry. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Helena, OK. The casket will be open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and 11 a.m. to 1:45 Tuesday at the church.
He was born Nov. 22, 1927, in Grand River, Iowa to Hurley M. Munyon Sr. and Eva Jones Munyon and died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005 at Integris Bass Health Center, Enid, OK.
He served in the Navy during World War II in the Philippines on the USS Merrimac and the USS Springfield. He married Virginia Albright May 5, 1948. In 1962, they moved from Council Bluffs, Iowa to Goltry, OK.
He was a member of Lions Club of Goltry, Goltry American Legion Post No. 43 and of New Covenant Fellowship in Goltry where he taught Sunday school and Bible study. He served as Goltry Senior Citizen's vice president.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia of Goltry; three sons, Bob Munyon of Council Bluffs, IA., Ronald Munyon of Hennessey, OK. and C. Dale Munyon of Edmond, OK.; two daughters, Ann Helterbrake of Chester, OK. and Alice Fry of Siloam Springs, Ark.; three sisters, Ada Ribble of Tucson, AZ, Mary Mae Palmer of Lexington, KY., and Ethelyn McClain of Des Moines, IA.; 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers, a sister and a great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to New Covenant Fellowship building fund.
