DORTHY LEOTA WATKINS
The funeral for Dorthy Leota Watkins, 83, of Fairview, OK., will be 2p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at First Baptist Church, Fairview. The Rev. David Mendenhall will officiate. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery, Helena, OK. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home.
She was born Oct. 15, 1922, in Enid, OK. to Emil and Esther Sawyer Dixon and died Monday, Oct. 31, 2005 at Fairview Fellowship Home.
She graduated from Nash High School as valedictorian. She later attended Helena Junior College.
She married Bill O. Watkins, Nov. 1, 1942, in Brownwood, TX. During World War II, she worked for Production Credit Association. They moved from Ringwood, OK. to Fairview in 1958. He died Feb. 25, 2000.
She worked for Fairview Packing Plant, Cornelsen Motor Co., Howard Way Chevrolet and Olds, and Pete Eischen Chevrolet and Olds, in accounting and bookkeeping until her retirement in 1985. She was a charter member of Ringwood Baptist Church. In 1958 she became a member of First Baptist Church, Fairview.
Surviving are one son, Bill Watkins, Jr. of Irving, TX.; two daughters, Beth Nilsson of Washington Island, Wisc., and Mary Kliewer of Fairview, OK.; one brother, George Dixon of Amarillo, TX.; two sisters, Retha Karnes of Gulfport, Miss., and Cleta Malone of Arlington, VA.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Bill, she was preceded in death by one son and four brothers.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to First Baptist Church Building Fund or Hospice Circle of Love.
