Helena, OK. -- The funeral service for Floyd V. Smith, 73, will be Thursday, June 15, 2000 at the Timberlake High School Auditorium in Helena at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. J. Michael Henrichs officiating. Burial will follow at Good Hope Cemetery directed by Lanman Funeral Home of Helena.
Floyd was born on June 24, 1926, the son of Z.A. Smith and Velma May Good and died at his home in Helena on Monday, June 12, 2000.
He was born in Custer County, OK. on a farm between Weatherford, OK. and Arapaho, OK. He completed his high school education at Arapaho. Then on June 12, 1949, at Cherokee, OK., he and Eleanor Lee Turner were married. After their marriage they lived at Clinton, OK., then in 1965 moved to Helena where they made their home for the past 35 years.
Floyd was Area Service Manager for Oklahoma Natural Gas Company for 35 plus years. He was a 32 degree Mason, belonged to Akdar Shriners, Masonic Lodge 80 in Enid, OK., and was a prior member of Helena Lions Club, Helena Chamber of Commerce, Cherokee Odd Fellows and Salty Sams Camping Club. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, in Helena.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor, of Helena; two daughters, Karen Williams of Warr Acres, OK. and Anita Davis of Helena, OK.; two sisters, Norma Jean Kauk of Butler, OK., and JoAnne Quintel of Lawton, OK.; four brothers, Harold of Clinton, OK., Layton of Eskridge, KS., Bill of Arapaho, OK., Rick of Hinton, OK.; three grandchildren, Joshua and Alyca Davis of Helena, OK., and Kristal Williams of Warr Acres, OK.
At the conclusion of the service at Timberlake Auditorium, Masonic rites will be conducted before proceeding to the cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital at St. Louis, MO., through Lanman Funeral Home, Helena, OK.
The casket will be open at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and before the service on Thursday.
