Funeral services for Monte J. McNabb, 36, Oakwood, were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday Feb. 7, 1969 in the Chapel of the Henninger-Allen Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Williams officiating. Burial followed in the Good Hope Cemetery, Helena.
McNabb died Tuesday evening, when the car he was driving was struck broadside and dead center shortly after 10 p.m. in Oakwood. At the time of the accident, McNabb was attempting to cross U. S. 270 from the west to the east.
According to reports of investigating Highway Patrol officers, McNabb did not have the lights of his car on, and there were no seat belts in the car. His death marks the first fatality of the year in the Enid OHP district.
McNabb was born on a farm southeast of Aline, attended grade school at McWillie and high school at Helena.
He attended the Methodist Church, and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Norma of the home in Oakwood: two sons, Mike and Jeff, and a daughter, Monica, Aline; two step-daughters, Andrea and Deanna Swinney, of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Loyd McNabb, Aline; his grandmother, Mrs. Bertha McNabb, Enid; two sisters, Mrs. Dwayne (Pat) Baggett, Canadian, Tex., and Mrs. Jim (Beverly) Penquite, Fairview.

Helena – Lloyd Joseph McNabb, who had lived his entire 70 years in the Helena area, died Wednesday in and Enid hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM Saturday in the Helena High School Auditorium with the Rev. Mike Chaffin officiating. Burial will be in the Good Hope Cemetery. The casket will be open in the foyer of the auditorium before the service.

McNabb was born July 4, 1910, in Helena and graduated from the Chaney Dell country school near Helena. He was a cattle buyer and farmer until his retirement in 1975. He was affiliated with the Methodist Church.

McNabb was married to Thelma Willey July 5, 1930, in Enid and they celebrated their golden anniversary in 1980.

In addition to his wife Thelma of the home, he is survived by two daughters, Patricia Jo Baggett, Canadian, Texas, and Beverly Penquite, Enid; a sister, Genevieve Strange, Enid; and two brothers, Wayne McNabb, Tulsa and Roy McNabb, Augusta, Kansas; 11 grandchildren and seven great – grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Monte in 1969.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kenny Lanman Funeral Home of Helena.

Contributions in memory of McNabb may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation Heart Fund. Lanman's will serve as custodian of the memorial fund.
