Arlington Emery McCune
Arlington Emery, son of Abner and Mary McCune was born April 7, 1890 on the old homestead near Stafford and departed this life on Nov. 27, at his home near Helena, Okla., at the age of 59 years 7 months and 20 days.
He attended the public schools and grew to manhood at the home of his parents and on Aug. 4, 1914 was united in marriage with Miss Encie Johnson.
To this happy union six children were born. Two infant sons, Randall and Gail preceded him in death.
He continued to reside in the Stafford community for 43 years, moving to their present home near Helena in 1933.
On January 16, 1922 he was baptized and became a follower of Jesus Christ. From that time on his earnest desire in life was to live that he might have a part in that city not made with hands, whose builder and maker is God.
He had a deep and abiding love for his home and family, and was never happier than when working with his hands to provide for them. Many beautiful memories remain to his loved ones of his love and generosity to them.
Those remaining to mourn his departure are: his sorrowing wife of the home; two sons and two daughters, Aldred of Aline, Okla., and David Marion of the home, Mrs. Arlene McCreary and Mrs. Joyce Baker, both of Helena; five little granddaughters, Janice and Karen McCune, Rita and Linda Baker, and Kathy Lou McCreary.
There also remain three brothers and three sisters, Stanley of Hutchinson, Norwood of Stafford, Earl, his twin brother, of Montezuma, Mrs. Pearl Kensinger of Hooker, Okla., and Mrs. Cleo Johnson of Hutchinson and Mrs. Opal Carleton of Stafford.
There remain many relatives and friends both of Stafford and Helena community who sorrow with these loved ones in their loss.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 2:00 p.m. at Helena, Okla., Rev. Glen Reed of Douglas, Okla., conducted services. Interment was in the Good Hope cemetery near Helena.
