OPAL MARILLA KEIFFER
The funeral for Opal Marilla Keiffer, 101, will be 3 p.m. Sunday at United Methodist Church, Helena, OK. The Rev. Jay Drawbridge will officiate. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery, south of Helena. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Helena. Visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. today with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born Nov. 26, 1905, in Beaver, OK. to Ray and Grace Hubbell and died Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, at Alterra Sterling House, in Enid, OK.
She lived east of Helena and attended Enterprise Country School and Helena High School.
She married John Keiffer in March 1920. They moved to Bovina, Texas, where they farmed during the Depression and Dust Bowl days. They returned to Helena in 1940 and continued to farm until 1972. He died in 1972.
She was a member of Helena Methodist Church from 1940 to 2004, where she taught Sunday school. She had been a recent member of Central Assembly of God Church after moving to Enid, OK. in 2004.
Surviving are one son, John Keiffer of Richardson, Texas; one daughter, Yvonna Rae Counts of Enid, OK.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
In addition to her husband, John, she was preceded in death by four brothers (Oscar, Olen, Oris & Ora) and one sister (Orva).
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Helena United Methodist Church or Central Assembly of God Church, Enid.
