November 26, 1929 - February 9, 2020

Juanita was born in Cherokee at her Grandma Hunt’s home on November 26, 1929 to Frank and Helena Pieler Powell. Juanita passed from this life on February 9, 2020 at her home in Ponca City with her family by her side.

She married Kenneth Lee Coulter on August 23, 1950. Kenneth and Juanita were married forty-three years. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She worked as head nutritionist at Lamont Public Schools and as a postal clerk in Hunter. Five years after Kenneth’s death in 1994, she married Fred Ashworth of Ponca City. They were married for ten years before Fred’s death in 2010. Juanita continued to live in Ponca City until her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Helen Powell; her sister, Bessie Schallner, and three brothers, John, Fred, and Paul Powell.

She is survived by two daughters, Debra Arnold and husband, Tom of Ponca City and Kenita Kendle and husband, Alan of Ponca City; four grandchildren, Krista Hatfield and husband, Chris of Stillwater, Beau Kendle of Ponca City, Deidre Bennett and husband, Ryan of New Boston, Texas and Brock Kendle and wife, Christian of Coldspring, Texas. Juanita had one great grandchild, Alex Hatfield of Stillwater.

Funeral service for Juanita will be Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Helena First Christian Church. Burial will follow at Good Hope Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Helena.
