November 29, 1937 - December 14, 2018

Funeral services for Patricia Joan Chaffin will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 20, 2018, at the Alva Church of God with Rev. Bob Brown officiating. Interment will be in the Garrison Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Patricia Joan Chaffin, daughter of the late Forrest and Opal (Long) Tinker, was born November 29, 1937, near Freedom, and passed away with her family by her side December 14, 2018, at Enid, Oklahoma, at the age of 81 years and 15 days.

Pat graduated from Freedom High School. On December 21, 1955, she was united in marriage to Clyde Eugene Chaffin at Freedom. They made their home in Dacoma and later in Alva. After her children were in school, she went to college and eventually earned her Masters Degree in Education. She taught in Campo, Colorado, for three years, then taught in Ames until her retirement. During her teaching career, she always considered Alva her home.

She was an active member of the Alva Church of God, teaching Sunday School as long as her health permitted and participating in many other church activities. She was also a member of the Oklahoma Education Association and the Retired Teachers Association.

Her family was always very important to her and she always spent as much time as she could visiting with them and attending their activities. She enjoyed gardening and flowers and enjoyed watching nature while sitting beside her fish pond. She enjoyed listening to books on tape and listening to music, especially Gospel and old time country music.

Patricia is survived by her husband, Clyde, of Alva, two children, Doug Chaffin and wife, Susan, of Alva, and Gayla Becker and husband, Bud, of Enid; four grandchildren, Greg Chaffin and wife, Kim, of Springdale, Arkansas, Jeremy Chaffin and wife, Kasey, of Alva, Dustin Chaffin of Marble Hill, Missouri, and Zach Chaffin and wife, Jennifer, of Alva; four great grandchildren, Drake, Gregory, Brenden, and Owen Chaffin; other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Alva Church of God.
