Joseph Smith, 75, died July 19 in the local hospital. Services were at 2 PM Friday in the First Christian Church with the Rev. Eugene R. Spillman officiating. Burial was in Cherokee Municipal Cemetery directed by Goodwin Funeral Home.

He was born November 25, 1912, in Horton, Kansas, and had lived in Cherokee since 1958. On August 7, 1943, he married Freda Richardson in Lyons, Kansas.

A brother and a sister preceded him in death.
