MARGARET PATTON
The funeral for Margaret Patton, 90, of Cherokee, OK. will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church, Cherokee. Dr. Ron Hansen will officiate. Burial will be in Cherokee Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Cherokee.
She was born Dec. 12, 1915, at Cherokee, OK. to Israel J. “Ira” and Nellie Jane Lester Davis and died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, at Beadles Nursing Home, Alva, OK.
She graduated from Cherokee High School in 1934. She worked for H. W. Wright. She married Harold Patton April 18, 1937, at Anthony, Kan. They lived in rural Cherokee and the Lambert, OK. area moving to Cherokee in 1960. He preceded her in death.
She worked for Dr. John X. Blender from 1959 to 1975, then worked at Cherokee Masonic Hospital, and Alfalfa County Hospital until her retirement.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Cherokee, serving as a Sunday school teacher, member of Promise Group and served on many committees. She was a member of Cro-Tat-Um Club, and Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority.
Surviving are one daughter, Sharon Cox of Wichita, Kan.; one son, John Patton of Cherokee; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Harold, she was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation - Alzheimer’s Division.
