STELLA MARIE MURRELL
Funeral services for Stella Marie Murrell, 75, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at the Cherokee First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Cooksey officiating. A private family burial will follow in the Cherokee Municipal Cemetery under the direction of the Goodwin Funeral Home of Cherokee, OK. The casket will remain closed.
She was born August 11, 1930, in Ardmore, OK. to William and Lonnie Tipps Brooks and died March 11, 2006, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid, OK.
She graduated from Ardmore High School in 1948, and East Central State University in 1952. Stella married the love of her life, Buddy Murrell, on February 22, 1952. She taught junior high English for 27 years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School. She was also a member of Junior Study Club ESA Sorority, Farmeretts and was a Cub Scout Leader.
Stella loved her husband, children, grandchildren and books. Grammy will be missed by her family and many friends.
Surviving are her husband, Buddy of Cherokee, OK.; her children, Tony and Janelle Murrell of Elk City, OK., Cynthia and Jon Burris of Edmond, OK., Andy Murrell of Cherokee, OK., and David and Marie Murrell of Duncan, OK.; grandchildren, Rhett and Ryan Murrell of Waynoka, OK., Aija and Kari Burris of Edmond, OK., and Madeline and Sarah Murrell of Duncan; two sisters, Mary Lou Howell of Rowlett, Texas, and Pat and James Bryant of Garland, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials may be given in her memory to the American Heart Association through Goodwin Funeral Home. (Paid Obit 3-14-1)
