RAY MAST
The funeral for Ray Mast, 78, of Cherokee, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Cherokee with the Rev. Jim Edmison officiating. Burial will follow in Cherokee Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are by of Lanman Funeral Home Inc. of Cherokee. Viewing will be 1 to 5 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Visitation with family will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
He was born Aug. 23, 1928, in Skidmore, Mo., to Fred and Katie Owens Mast. He died Saturday, May 20, 2006, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center in Enid.
He was raised in Skidmore and graduated from Skidmore High School. He spent 10 years in the Air Force and attained the rank of sergeant. He married Henrietta Arambula in Enid, and they eventually moved to Kansas City. In 1976, they moved to Cherokee, where he operated an independent contract brush hog service.
Survivors include four sons, Terry Mast of Kansas City, Kan., Gary Mast, of Topeka, Kan., and Phillip Mast and Dennis Mast, both of Cherokee; one sister, Dorthy Bennett, of Blue Springs, Mo.; one brother, Bill Mast, of Kansas City, Kan.; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Henrietta, and one brother.
