December 10, 1925 - May 28, 2008

The funeral for Elden D. Melrose, 82, of Cherokee, will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Davis Park Christian Church. The Rev. Alan Seibel will officiate. Burial will be in Cherokee Cemetery, Cherokee. Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home, Enid.

He was born Dec. 10, 1925, in Carmen to Lee and Esther Galer Melrose and died Wednesday, May 28, 2008, in Enid. He grew up and attended school in Carmen. He married Margie Ream Dec. 10, 1942, in Medicine Lodge, Kan. He served in the 82nd Airborne Division in Europe during World War II. Following his discharge they lived in Cherokee, where he was a lineman for Rural Electric.

He was a welder by trade and owned his own business. He then worked for George E. Failing Co. for 21 years. He was a member of Davis Park Christian Church.

Surviving are two sons, Marvin of Whitakers, N.C., and Stan of Enid; one daughter, Nancy Walls of Enid; three brothers, Marvin E. Melrose, Harold Melrose and Laverne Melrose; three sisters, Wanda Nickel, Virginia Ryel and Vera Hughes; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Davis Park Christian Church.
