Cherokee Municipal Cemetery


Cherokee – Della Ann McConnell, 99, died Friday in a Cherokee rest home.

A service will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday in Grapes Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. C. M. Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Cherokee Municipal Cemetery.

She was born on July 20, 1881, at Pawnee City, Nebraska, and married Mossie McConnell at Smith Center, Kansas, on December 28, 1898. They made their home in Smith County, Kansas, until moving to Cherokee in 1907.

She was a member of Friends Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Lula (Babe) Sayers, Wichita; three sons, Mason, Cherokee, Jesse, Espanola, New Mexico, and Walter, Ft. Lyons, Colorado; one sister, Mrs.Elma Taylor, Liberal, Kansas; nine grandchildren, 24 great – grandchildren, and two great – great – grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one daughter.

The casket will be closed after the service.
