Cherokee Municipal Cemetery


The funeral for Earl F. Hays, 83, was at 2 PM Monday at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Gary L. Hornish officiating. Burial was in Cherokee Municipal Cemetery directed by Goodwin Funeral. He died October 4, 1991, at Alfalfa County Hospital.

He was born April 13, 1908, east of Byron to Friend A. and Ella Glaze Hays. He graduated from Byron High School. On September 30, 1933, he married Geraldine Mason. They lived on a farm east of Byron eight years, then moved to a farm northwest of Helena where they lived until his health failed in 1980 and they moved to Cherokee.

He was a member of Byron Christian Church.

Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Janice Haunschild of Oklahoma City; a son, Gary of Cherokee, and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Beard, and a grandson.

Memorials may be made to Alfalfa County Hospital.
