Cherokee Municipal Cemetery


The graveside service for Betty Corrine Stauffer, 82, of Burlington, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2009, in Cherokee Municipal Cemetery. Pastor Gib Clark will officiate. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Cherokee. Viewing will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home with the family present 6-8 p.m.

She was born Oct. 16, 1926, in Cherokee to Vernon E. and Glenora F. Boldrey Watkins and died Monday, June 1, 2009 at Kiowa Hospital District Manor, Kiowa, Kan.

She was a 1944 graduate of Cherokee High School. She worked at Beech Aircraft in Wichita, Kan., as a sheet metal worker. She later graduated from Northwest Beauty Aca-demy, Alva, and worked at the beauty shop of Pat Amsler.

She married John D. Hay Aug. 29, 1948, in Cherokee. He died May 17, 1984. Following his death, she attended a refresher course at Enid Beauty School and opened Betty's Beauty Shop in Cherokee.

She was a member of First Christian Church, Cherokee.

She married E. LeRoy Stauffer April 24, 1989, in Miami, Okla. They made their home in Burlington.

Surviving are her husband, LeRoy, of Burlington; two daughters, Donna Prince of Amorita and Debbie Jenlink of Cherokee; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her first husband, John, she was preceded in death by one sister.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Kiowa Manor or ABBD Senior Center.
