Cherokee Municipal Cemetery

A. JEAN HAGUE
The funeral for Anita Jean (Bucks) Hague, age 84, of Cherokee, will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church in Cherokee. The Rev. Jim Edmison will officiate. Burial will be in Cherokee Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are by Goodwin Funeral Home. Visitation will be today from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Anita Jean (Buck) Hague was born May 17, 1922, to Bessie Holmden Buck and Fred Buck. She grew up on a farm near the Carmen-Aline area. She graduated from Aline High School in 1939.
On Aug. 9, 1942, in Galveston, Texas, Jean was married to L. Milton Hague of Cherokee. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary shortly before Milton’s death in 2004.
Following their wedding, Jean stayed with or near Milton at the Army camps where he was an instructor, until he went overseas. Jean then resided in Cherokee throughout the war working in the courthouse and the bank, while also mailing care packages and letters to Milton and other local soldiers. After the war, they lived on the farm west of Cherokee where they farmed and raised cattle.
Jean is survived by two sons, Terry and Tim. Terry, a banker, lives in Edmond with his wife, Joyce. Tim and his wife, Patria, live on the same farm where Milton and Jean lived. She is survived by her brothers, Billy and Freddy. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren: Derek Blackshare, his wife Karen, Christopher and Kyla; Teil Blackshare, his wife Jennifer, Allyson, Tyler, Cassidy and Jayden; Sam Hague, his wife Kim, Madison, Anna Monroe, Truman and Pierce; Sarah Hague Campbell, her husband Kurt, and Noah; Monica Hague Moore, her husband Scott, and Ethan; Sally Hague and Luke Hague.
Jean was preceded in death by husband Milton, brothers George and Joe and sisters Rose McFall and Helen Norton.
Jean was always passionate about activities involving her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She loved to help them all with school, cooking, church or any activities they were involved in. She always made their Halloween costumes, made special Christmas stockings, played games with them, read to them, put on plays and parties and always had snacks in the refrigerator. She worked with her sons and grandchildren in 4-H, FFA, sports, Cub Scouts, school and college activities and vacations, including a family 50th wedding anniversary trip to Eureka Springs. She loved to take pictures and has taken thousands of her family and friends.
Jean’s hobbies were working with Milton on woodworking projects, restoring antique furniture, watching old movies, landscape painting and helping make flag poles for yards all over town. She and Milton both loved to see the American flag flying.
Memorials may be made in Jean’s memory to First United Methodist Church in Cherokee. (Paid Obit 7-11-1)
