Boyde Jack HIGHFILL

Cherokee Municipal Cemetery

Boyde Jack Highfill was born, November 3, 1956, to Jack and Lorene (Tuxhorn) Highfill in Hardtner, Kansas. Boyde was the seventh of eight children born to this union. Boyde passed away unexpectedly on June 22, 2023, at 66 years old.

Boyde grew up in northwest Oklahoma, living and attending school in several communities. He graduated from Cherokee High School in 1975.

After high school Boyde started his own business hauling hay. Boyde has been self-employed his whole life in various forms of the farming and cattle industry. After years of hauling hay, he began hauling cattle and later became a cattle buyer. Eventually he purchased his own land and started his own cattle operation. In the early 2000s Boyde began doing custom hay work again, and was joined in that endeavor by his daughter, Taylor (Highfill) Fielder in 2019.

On August 9, 1984, Boyde married Diane Dorton. Boyde and Diane were parents to three daughters, Shayla, Jacklyn and Taylor. They raised their daughters in Cherokee, Oklahoma, and, like their parents, all three graduated from Cherokee High School.

Boyde knew people from all over the country, and he never met a stranger. He was an extremely generous man; he was a friend to all who knew him. If someone needed something, he was there to help, whether he knew you or not.

Boyde is survived by his wife, Diane Highfill, of the home; his daugthers, Shayla (Adam) Swain of Cooper Landing, Alaska; Jacklyn Highfill of Ketchum, Idaho; and Taylor (Zack) Fielder of Cherokee; three grandsons Jack, Walker, and Clay Swain of Cooper Landing, Alaska; two sisters Jenny Newell of Oklahoma City, and Bobbie (Jan) Jewell of Byron; his father and mother-in-law, Albert and Gayle Dorton of Cherokee; several nieces, nephews, cousins and his dog, Pooper.

Boyde was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Lorene Highfill (later Lorene Trembly) and stepfather Virgil Trembly. Also preceding him were three brothers - Al, Tom and Toby; two sisters: Meron and Vickey; and nephews Chace Jewell and Tyler Highfill.

A private family graveside service was held on June 25, 2023, at the Cherokee Cemetery.
