ROLLAND RAY GERBER
The funeral for Rolland Ray Gerber, 81, of Watonga, OK. will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Christian Church, Watonga. The Rev. David Johnson will officiate. Burial will be 2 p.m. in Cherokee Cemetery, Cherokee, OK. Arrangements are by Wilkinson Mortuary, Watonga.
He was born Feb. 7, 1925, north of Driftwood, OK. and died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, in Veterans Hospital, Oklahoma City, OK.
He graduated from Driftwood High School in 1942. He was in World War II serving in the Seabees (Navy Construction Battalion) building Quonset huts and airstrips in the Aleutian Islands and Okinawa. He was discharged in 1945, and became a farmer and cattleman.
He graduated from Missouri Auction School, Kansas City, Mo., in 1956 and became an auctioneer and cattle buyer at weekly auctions in northwest Oklahoma and southern Kansas.
He moved to Watonga in 1965 and operated Watonga Livestock Auction. He also built and ran the Plant Place and a sprinkler system installaton company in Watonga.
He married Jonnie Martin in 1943. She died in 1973. He then married Cleo Cowan in 1975.
Surviving are three brothers; one sister; two sons; two stepchildren; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
