Hattie Mae Gibson Funeral Monday

Cherokee – Mrs. Hattie Mae Gibson, 74, died Friday evening in her home. She was born June 7, 1895, in Arkansas City, Kansas, and came to Oklahoma as a telegraph operator for the Santa Fe Railroad.

She came to Guthrie first and then worked in several other area towns as telegraph operator.

She was married to Charles Gibson in August 1919 at Cherokee and has lived here since that time. Gibson died in 1961. She was a member of the Christian Church of Cherokee.

Two sons survive her, Roy Gibson of Clinton, and Ervin Gibson of Watonga; one daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Blanche) Weir of Enid; one sister, Mrs. Etta McBride, of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM Monday in the First Christian Church of Cherokee.

Rev. Arthur K. Hunt will officiate and burial will be in Cherokee Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Goodwin – Smith Funeral Home of Cherokee.
