Cherokee Municipal Cemetery


Funeral services for Susie E. Garner, 81, will be at 10:30 AM Thursday at Cherokee Friends Church with the Rev. Randy Littlefield officiating. Burial will be at Cherokee Municipal Cemetery directed by Goodwin Funeral Home. She died March 15, 1993, at her home.

She was born September 23, 1911, one mile east of Cherokee to Allison and Ladia Cook Bayliff. She attended Lincoln Center School. She and Glenn Garner were married August 17, 1929, in Cherokee. They lived in Carmen until 1938 when they moved to Cherokee. In 1942, they moved to Wichita, Kansas, where she worked for Boeing Aircraft until 1945 when they returned to Cherokee.

She was a member of Cherokee Friends Church, Order of Eastern Star Chapter 174, Cro-Tat–Em Club and Cherokee Senior Citizens.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Marilyn Parker of Cherokee; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Linda Sellers Wilson of Wichita, Kansas, and Nora Curtis of Cherokee; a sister – in – law, Lila Mae Bruce of Eugene, Oregon.

She was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

Memorials may be made to the church's building fund through the funeral home.
