CHEROKEE - The funeral for Edwin J. Brune, 83, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Goodwin Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Joseph Andrajack will officiate. Burial will be in Cherokee Municipal Cemetery.
He was born Dec. 22, 1919, in Kingfisher to Julius William and Clara Fry Brune and died Sunday, May 11, 2003, at his home in Cherokee.
As a child, he moved with his parents to Lambert-Cherokee areas and attended school at Lambert. He was a farmer and gardener. He served in the Navy during World War II, returning to Lambert after his discharge. In 1946, he married Jean Smith at Kiowa, Kan. They lived in Lambert and Cherokee communities. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife, Jean of the home; one son, Larry of Piedmont; one daughter, Nancy Jo Gallo of Atlanta; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Zion Lutheran Church.

Emma Jean Brune
Funeral service for Emma Jean Brune, 81, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 23, 2009 at Goodwin Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Mark Bersche officiating. Burial will follow in the Cherokee Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Goodwin Funeral Home of Cherokee.
Emma Jean was born September 29, 1927 in Clinton, Oklahoma, to George Sr. and Eva Brady Smith and died January 16, 2009 in Marietta, Georgia.
She and Edwin Brune were married on November 24, 1946 in Kiowa, Kansas and he preceded her in death in May 2003. She is survived by one son, one daughter, one sister, six grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one step great grandchild.
Memorials may be given in her memory to Zion Lutheran Church through.
