Cherokee Municipal Cemetery


The funeral for Leonard Thomas Boston, 89, who died January 11, 1990, at Cherokee Manor nursing home, was at 2 PM Saturday at Friends Church with the Rev. Fred Jones officiating. Burial was in Cherokee Municipal Cemetery directed by Fisher Funeral Home.

He was born December 14, 1900, in a sod house Southeast of Cherokee to John and Katherine Fell Boston. He married Sarah Campbell on August 28, 1921. She died December 11, 1983. They lived on the homestead from 1934 to 1957 before moving into town.

He attended Stella Academy and was a member of Friends Church.

Surviving are one son, Robert of Enid; four daughters, Bernice Thornberry of Cherokee, Maxine Sweatt of Enid, Doris Wofford of Fritch, Texas, and Ruth Barnes of Cincinnati, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, one brother and two sisters.

Memorials may be made to the nursing home through the funeral home.
