Cherokee Municipal Cemetery


Funeral services for Geneva I. Davis, 74, who died Monday evening, July 24, 1989, at Alfalfa County Hospital, will be at 2 PM Thursday at the First Christian Church with the Rev. John Bloss officiating. Burial will be in Cherokee Municipal Cemetery directed by Goodwin Funeral Home.

She was born May 10, 1915, in Lambert. She attended school in Fairfax, Lambert and Cherokee, graduating from Cherokee High School in 1933.

She and George (Dutch) Beltz were married March 31, 1933, in Alva and lived west of Cherokee where they farmed. They moved to Cherokee in 1970. He died March 9, 1977.

She and Lester Davis were married October 25, 1980 in Cherokee. He died May 30, 1983.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, Cherokee Rebekah Lodge Number 140, serving as district deputy president and various state appointments, Cherokee Business and Professional Women's Club, Chamber of Commerce, Alfalfa County Hospital Volunteers, Merry Makers Club and several social clubs.

She taught crafts in the Cherokee summer youth program and volunteered at the grade school.

She is survived by two daughters, Glennis Nokes of Cherokee and Karen Langford of Oklahoma City; a son, Eldon Freddie Beltz of Detroit, Michigan; two sisters, Wynetta Kramer of Enid and Hazel Treece of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

Memorials may be made to Alfalfa County Hospital.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday and until noon Thursday. The casket will not be opened at the church.
