MARGIE LOU EDWARDS BALFOUR
A graveside service for Margie Lou (Edwards) Balfour, 82, Grapevine, TX., formerly of Cherokee, OK. and Enid, OK., will be at the Cherokee Memorial Cemetery, Thursday, November 10, at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Ron Hansen officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. today, November 9, at Goodwin Funeral Home, Cherokee, OK.
Margie was born on September 25, 1923, in Cherokee, OK. to Harry and Gertrude Edwards and passed away November 7, 2005, in Grapevine, TX., after a period of ill health.
She was a graduate of Cherokee High School, Class of 1941 and Cottey College for Women, Class of 1943. She then attended the University of Arizona for one year before returning to Cherokee where she married Robert H. (Bob) Balfour in 1945. They made their home in Cherokee from 1950 to 1965 where she began her career as a legal secretary. They then moved to Enid, OK. in 1965. Due to failing health, she moved to Grapevine, TX. in 2003 to be near her daughter, Janice Graham.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Jimmy Rae Edwards, who died in action during World War II, and her husband, Bob, who died in 1972. She also lost her dear friend of thirty years, M.D. (Spitz) Hoffman in 2002.
She is survived by her daughter, Jan, of Grapevine, TX.; grandsons Seth Balfour Michael of Medford, OK. and Jonathon Drew Michael of Keller, TX. and her dear cousin, James Fanning, formerly of Cherokee, OK.
In lieu of flowers, family request donation be made to a charity of your choice.
