CM SGT Richard R. Brown
CMSgt Richard R. Brown, 70, of San Antonio, TX died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007 at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland Air Force Base, TX.
Born Aug. 23, 1936 in New Paris, Ohio, to Bonita and William Brown. He served over 26 years in the Air Force and earned a bachelor of business management degree from St. Mary’s University after retirement.
Richard was a friend to many, but most important to him was the love he had for his family. He was truly proud of his three children and adored his grandchildren immeasurably. His character and integrity will be remembered by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Willard and his sister, Wilma Jean Brown.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Karen C. (Belknap) Brown; his daughter, Sharen R. Brown of Houston; his son, Chris and wife Deborah and their children, Alana Rose and Ashlyn Lauren Brown of Houston; his son, Brian and wife Terri and their children Megan Cheyenne and Allison Mackenzie of Maryland; his two sisters, Carolyn Schaar of Ohio, and Donna Lou Griffith of Florida; his four brothers, Gilvie and Phillip of Ohio, Joseph of Indiana, and Dean of Washington, D.C.; his mother-in-law, Blanche Belknap, of Carmen; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. today, Feb. 8, 2007 at Marbach Christian Church, 8023 Marbach Road, San Antonio, Texas. Pastor Jim Reisser will officiate. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11 in City Cemetery, Carmen. The Rev. Stephen R. Samples of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, Enid, OK, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, a charitable contribution made payable to “Georgetown University Hos-pital Foundation” can be sent to Wentworth Mortuary, P.O. Box 308, Carmen, OK 73726. Donations should indicate “Transplant Institute in memory of Richard Brown.” The memorial is for Richard’s granddaughter’s liver transplant.
Services are under the direction of Castle Ridge Mortuary of San Antonio, TX, and Wentworth Mortuary of Carmen, OK. (Paid Obit 2-08-3)
