Mary S. (Hopper) Brewer
Funeral services for Mary S. (Hopper) Brewer, 77, of Alva, Okla. will be Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, at Marshall Funeral Home Chapel in Alva, Okla. Pastor William S. Kalfas will officiate and burial will follow in Carmen City Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wentworth’s Mortuary of Carmen, Okla.
Mary was born March 1, 1929, in Center Hill, Arkansas, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Irene (Moore) Hopper.
She attended schools in Arkansas and Wichita, Kan. On April 7, 1949, Mary was united in marriage to Glen Brewer in Clovis, New Mexico. They traveled in all fifty states, Canada and Mexico. They made their home in many places, including Wichita, Kansas, Carmen and Alva, Oklahoma. They owned and operated Radio Shack and Alva Home Furniture Store in Alva, Okla. Mary was a member of Eastern Star and American Legion Auxiliary. She attended Christian and Baptist churches. Mary was a loving daughter, wife and sister.
Mary had a stroke at her home in Alva and was in Beadles Nursing Home where she departed this life on Feb. 15, 2007. She was 77 years, 11 months and 14 days of age.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Brewer, on Jan. 16, 1990; one sister, Nelda Jean Hopper; one brother, Thomas Louis Hopper and his wife, Sandra; two brothers-in-law, Lavern Brewer and Verl Fox.
Survivors include her brother, Irvin D. Hopper, Alva, Okla.; two sisters, Nona Fox of Alva and Brenda Rogers and her husband John of Moncks Corner, S.C.; one sister-in-law, Rose Brewer, Alva; nieces, nephews, family friend, Edwin Boham; other relatives and many friends.
Visitation at the Marshall Funeral Home, Alva, will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., today, Feb. 17th and Sunday, Feb. 18 and from 9 a.m. to service time on Monday. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, Feb. 18 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Share Hospice.
