Ballard Bennett
A graveside service for Ballard Bennett, 93, of Montrose, Colo., will be 2:30 p..m. Wednesday at Byron-Amorita Cemetery. The Rev. Jim Edmison will officiate. Arrangements are by Goodwin Funeral Home, Cherokee,
OK.
He was born July 21, 1913, in Cornish to Gus Lee and Oma Brownlee Bennett and died Feb. 18, 2007, in Montrose.
He married Mary Morord. She preceded him in death in 1975.
He received his bachelor’s degree in animal husbandry from Oklahoma State University and his master’s degree in dairy science from Kansas State University. He was a field representative for American Guernsey Cattle Club. He later worked for Louisiana Animal Breeders Cooperative, retiring in 1977 He moved to Montrose in 2004.
He was a member of United Methodist Church and Farmhouse Fraternity. He received the Louisana Guernsey Cattle Club Distinguished Service Award in 1992.
He is survived by two daughters, Nancy LeBow of Fairfax,Va., and Carol Bower of Ridgeway, Colo.; one son, Robert Bennett of Fresno, Calif.; one sister, Catherine Stotler of Dallas; and three grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Mary, he was preceded in death by one sister.
