GRACE PARR BARNES
The funeral for Grace Parr Barnes, 94, of Cherokee, OK., will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Cherokee. The Rev. Tom Cooksey will officiate. Burial will be in Byron-Amorita Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc., Cherokee, OK. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today with the family present from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, and Saturday after the service at the church.
She was born Sept. 10, 1910 in Amorita, OK. to Floyd and Katie Rhiter Parr and died Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center, Enid, OK.
She attended school in Amorita, OK., graduating from Amorita High School in 1928. She later attended Wichita Business College.
She married Marvin Wachholz in 1931. They lived in Hardtner, KS. She worked in the defense industry in Wichita, KS. during World War II. She later married Leonard Such. They moved to California where she worked for McDonald-Douglas. She then married Wayne Barnes. He died in 1977. She retired to Cherokee. She spent her later years at Golden Oaks Nursing Home, Enid, OK.
Surviving are two brothers, Howard Parr of Amorita, OK. and Jack Parr of Cherokee, OK.
In addition to her husband, Wayne, she was preceded in death by one sister.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to First Baptist Church of Cherokee or Byron-Amorita Cemetery Association.
