Byron & Amorita Cemetery


Mass of Christian Burial for Charles G. Bostick, 70, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007, at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Cherokee with Father Damian Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in Byron-Amorita Cemetery under the direction of Goodwin Funeral Home of Cherokee. Viewing at the funeral home will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m. Rosary will follow at 7 p.m.

He was born Feb. 22, 1937, in Wichita, KS to Nash and Beulah Brock Bostick and died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, at Share Medical Center, Alva.

He lived in various towns in Oklahoma and Mississippi and graduated from East High School in Denver, CO. He moved to California and worked as a delivery person for a florist where he learned to design flowers. He was a manager of flower shops in California before moving to Denver as manager of a large retail chain of flower shops in Colorado. He later returned to Wichita to be with his mother.

In 1978, he and Waneta Swem were married in Miami, OK. In 1985 they, with Jerry Yocum, bought Valley Wholesale Floral in Wichita. He sold his interest to Jerry Yocum in 1991 and retired. They later moved to Cherokee.

He was a member of St. Cornelius Catholic Church, past president of Kansas State Florist Association and helped many people through his association with Alcoholics Anonymous. He enjoyed traveling with his children and grandchildren and fishing. He was an avid collector.

Surviving are his wife, Waneta; one son, Michael Sanders; two daughters, DeLynn Hartman and husband Tim and Jody Vandermyden; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
