Muriel Uldine (Puffinbarger) Black Bushman arrived at her heavenly home on November 23, 2022. To honor her life, visitation will be Tuesday, November 29, 2022, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Amy Stittsworth Funeral Services and Cremation Directors. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the Enid Maine Nazarene Church. Committal prayers and interment will follow at the Byron-Amorita Cemetery. Reverend Sheldon Tucker will officiate. It is a privilege to have the Stittsworth family provide kind guidance for the service.

Muriel was born in Byron, Oklahoma on May 8, 1935, to Elmer and Jessie Puffinbarger. She married Donald A. Black on May 20, 1953. They were married for 61 years. Their marriage produced three children Jocille Tucker, Dr. Donalyn Alexander, and Ronald Black. Muriel is best known for being a loving caregiver. While managing the Donald A. Black Insurance and Real Estate agency in Enid, Oklahoma for 45 years, she not only raised her children but lovingly helped raise John, Kyle, and Allen Black who she considered her children. Muriel could always be found reading story books to her children and grandchildren. She dedicated years of her life as a caregiver for Clarice and A.B. Vanderpool as well as her husbands. The Black home was always open and welcoming to family and friends who needed a meal, fellowship, comfort, or a place to stay.

Muriel was famous for the hours she spent sewing and quilting. Skills she taught to many of her children and grandchildren. Her special talent was hand-quilting. She loved quilting with friends at the Cherokee Strip Piecemakers Quilt Guild. Numerous quilts were made for family, but Muriel made hundreds of quilts that were donated to cancer patients to provide warmth and comfort. Muriel also supported her church through her prayers, presence, gifts, and service.

The surviving children of Jocille and Sheldon Tucker are Paul David and wife, Lacie Emery, as well as Cameron and wife, Savannah Emery. Drs. Donalyn and Joe Alexander share Dr. Austin and Kelsey Alexander, while Ronnie Black is blessed with Joe and wife, Ashley Black, and Madelyn Black. Muriel's extended children are John and Mendi Black; Kyle and Sissy Black; Allen and Judy Black. She has 30 additional grand and great grandchildren. Her surviving sibling is Dr. Loy Puffinbarger. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Marvin Puffinbarger, Clytice Butler, Herschel Puffinbarger, Clarice Vanderpool, Lynn Puffinbarger, and Fay Puffinbarger. Muriel was also proceeded in death by her husbands Donald A. Black and Reverend Jerald Bushman. The family has selected Cherokee Strip Piecemakers Quilting Guild.
