Byron & Amorita Cemetery


Byron – Services for Ruth E. Allen, 90, will be at 2 PM Sunday at Riverside Church of Christ in Burlington with Harstell Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Byron – Amorita Cemetery directed by Goodwin Funeral Home, Cherokee.

She died in a Kiowa, Kansas, nursing home Wednesday. She was born in Harper, Ohio, March 24, 1896, where she grew up. She came to Oklahoma at the time of World War I, and married Orville Allen October 14, 1920, in Newkirk. They made their home in the Byron community. He died in July 1962. She was also preceded in death by three grand sons.

She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include a daughter, Olive Hudgens, Anthony, Kansas; five sons, Emerson Allen, Wellington, Kansas; Gaylord Allen, Fort Worth; James Allen and Delmar Allen both of Byron; Carroll Allen, Longmont, Colorado; 19 grandchildren; 30 great – grandchildren, and one great – great – grandson.
