Iva Lucile Booze was born May 18, 1917, to Margaret Sophia (Maggie) Helmick and Earl Edwin Booze, in the McWillie, Oklahoma, area.

After the loss of her mother from childbirth at age 4, she spent much of her younger years with an aunt, Clara Minick and Booze uncles in McWillie. Iva started school in McWillie and later attended Rich Valley, then graduated from Aline High School. She worked for various families in the area as a housekeeper and nanny during her high school years and soon after graduation. She often talked about a girl's trip to Little Rock, Arkansas, and San Antonio, Texas, with Audrey May Irwin and May Vighnon Goodno after graduation.

On April 12, 1941, she was united in marriage to Alvin Dean Woods at Cherokee. To this union, two children were born: Ray Dean and Larry Gene. They made their home on Aline area farms until Alvin's death in July 1995. They celebrated 50 years of marriage before Alvin's death. They had many cherished friends and neighbors in the area.

Iva then lived in Aline until moving to Dallas, Texas, in September 2005 to be close to her son's family.

Iva always cherished her close family and friends in the Aline area. The many phone conversations while in Dallas clearly showed her heart remained in Aline. She also made many friends in the Town Village North senior living facility in Dallas.

Iva was a member of the Aline First Christian Church and Eastern Star. She was presented a 50-year pin as a member of Eastern Star.

Iva was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Woods; son, Larry Woods; mother, Margaret Sophia (Helmick) Booze; father, Earl Booze; two brothers, Raymond Lewis Booze and Baby Cecil Howard Booze; three half-sisters, Jean Jack, Joyce Krepel and Nadine Harvey; stepmother, Grace Melrose; stepbrother, Orval Booze; aunts, uncles, cousins and Lee Melrose.

Iva is survived by her son, Ray Woods and wife Bonnie of Plano, Texas; three grandchildren in Dallas, Melonie Koeijmans and husband Tony, Amber Brandt and husband Jason and Jeremy Woods and wife Allison; nine great-grandchildren; and a half-brother, Gary Booze and wife Doris of Aline.
