FLOYD DEAN SIMS
Aline, OK. -- Funeral service for Floyd Dean Sims, age 86, will be today at 2:00 p.m. at First Christian Church in Aline with Rev. Casey McKenna and Rev. Dale Cummins officiating. Burial will follow at Aline Star Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Helena, OK. Online condolences may be made at www.lanmanfuneralhomes.com by clicking on the Ultimate Tributes icon. Visitation was from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home and the casket will be open before the service at the church.
Floyd Dean Sims was born on September 29, 1919 in rural Aline, OK. to John Sims and Dama Webster Sims and passed from this life on September 28, 2005 in a traffic accident. Floyd went to Aline schools and graduated in 1937. He married Vivian Hager on January 1, 1940 at Oakdale in her grandparents' home and lived in the Aline area most of his life. When Floyd and Vivian were first married they lived in Enid, OK. and Floyd worked for Goldspot Dairy. His route took him to Alva, to Dacoma to southeast of Enid to west of Enid and Ringwood. August 1, 1944 he and Vivian moved to the farm near Aline. He had completely redone their home and he was still living in that home. Floyd was a carpenter and worked with Melvin Devereaux for several years building new homes. He helped with the gym floor at Aline school and had done much carpentry work at Helena Public Schools. Floyd worked at the Helena State Training School for Boys for 20 years. Floyd was a farmer/rancher and was very proud to say this was his 70th year of farming. Floyd was a member of the First Christian Church of Aline serving as chairman of the board more than 30 years. He was an elder in his church and taught Sunday School a great number of years. He also served on the Board of Directors for Disciples Youth Camp in Guthrie, OK. Floyd was part of the Aline Star Cemetery Association since his youth and was president of the association many, many years. Floyd was a member of the Masonic Lodge #190 in Aline having received his 50 year pin in 2000 and was also a member of Eastern Star.
Left to cherish Floyd's memory are his two daughters, Janet Seifert and husband, Cliff of Enid, OK. and Brenda Dixon and husband, J.C. of Alva, OK.; grandchildren, Jay and Tava Seifert Jones of Norman, OK., Dr. Tad Seifert of Louisville, KY., Kevin and Stefanie Dixon of Woodward, OK., Paul and Kayl Dixon Clark of Fairview, OK.; great-grandchildren, Mallory and Hunter Jones, Tell and Teton Dixon and Avery and Kennan Clark; one brother-in-law, Lester Hager of Alva, OK. and many cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian, on July 30, 2003; his parents; and three brothers, Paul, Raymond and Doyne.
Memorials may be given to the Aline Christian Church or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation through the funeral home.
