April 15, 1918 - November 16, 2013

Funeral Services for Mary Helen (Schroeder) Wilcox, 95, will be 2:00 pm, Friday, November 22, 2013 at the Cleo Springs Nazarene Church, Cleo Springs, Oklahoma with reverend Paula Young officiating. Burial will follow in the Aline Star Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Fairview Funeral Home Inc.

Mary Helen Wilcox, daughter of Charles Victor Sparks and Mabel (Frey) Sparks, was born April 15, 1918, near Fairview, Oklahoma and passed away November 16, 2013 at Green Valley Nursing Home in Perry, Oklahoma.

On August 31, 1935, she married Pete Schroeder in Enid, Oklahoma. They made their home near Fairview, Oklahoma where their first child, Peggy Ann, was born. They later moved to a farm north of Cleo Springs and Peggy Ann passed away at the age of 20 months. Five more children were born while living on the farm and in 1952 the family moved to town (Cleo Springs).

Mary Helen was a homemaker, a devoted wife and mother, a nurse’s aide at Fairview Fellowship Home for 15 years and an excellent caretaker of Pete, especially during his last years of life. She was an active member of the Cleo Springs Nazarene Church.

She married Locie Wilcox in 1993 and moved to his home west of Fairview where they enjoyed seven years of marriage. She enjoyed traveling with Locie, fishing, shared his love of cattle and was included in and cared for by his family. Locie and Mary Helen were active members of the Cedar Springs Nazarene Church.

Mary Helen lived at Burgundy Place Apartments, Enid, Oklahoma for eight years before moving to Perry. While there she made dear friends, enjoyed Bible Study and bingo, and was an avid reader.

Surviving are Phyllis and Vernon Hood, Pineville, MO, Wanda and Mark Kiner, Perry, OK, Sue Schroeder, Ringwood, OK, Marlene Waddell, Enid, OK, Judy Schroeder, Paola, KS, 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren, and a brother Sam Sparks, Raymore, MO.

She was preceded in death by four children; Peggy Ann, Ron, Keith and Paul Schroeder, husbands; Pete Schroeder and Locie Wilcox, one granddaughter, five sisters and two brothers.
