ENID - ALINE - Graveside service for Richard ?Dick? J. Hood, 91, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010, in Aline Star Cemetery, east of Aline, with Pastor Scott Heusel of the First United Methodist Church of Aline officiating. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Helena. Memories may be shared with the family at www.lanman memorials.com. Viewing will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Richard was born July 21, 1918, in Lambert to Arthur M. and Mary J. Holmden Hood and passed away at Cherokee Manor Care Center in Cherokee on Monday, July 19, 2010.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Virgil L. Hood of Nacoma Park, Okla.; and sister, Violet F. Schlarb of Enid.
He is survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
Richard graduated from Aline High School and served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of Kiner-Ryle American Legion Post 152, Aline. After his discharge from the Army, he raised wheat and cattle, farming near the Aline community until he retired.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Great Plains Care Center in Helena and the staff of Cherokee Manor Care Center for their care the past four years. In addition, we would like to thank Ross Health Care for providing hospice care during our uncle's final days.
Memorials may be given to American Legion Veterans Memorial through the funeral home.
