Aline Star Cemetery


Aline – Funeral services will be at 2:30 PM Sunday in the First Christian Church in Aline for Mrs. Mary "May" Harmon, 90, who died Thursday evening in a Fairview nursing home.

The Rev. Wayne Hammer will officiate and burial will be in the Aline Star Cemetery, with the Wentworth Mortuary of Carmen in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Harmon was born August 17, 1890, in Ironton, Ohio, the daughter of Samuel and Marilla Warner. In 1900, the family moved to Dallas County, Missouri, where she lived until moving to Fresno, California, in 1914.

She was married there to Clay Young December 24, 1915. Young died in December, 1917 and Mrs. Harmon returned to Clinton, Missouri, to live.

After her marriage to Joseph Lester Harmon January 11, 1922, they moved to the Aline community. Her husband died February 28, 1966. She was also preceded in death by her only son, Paul Lester, who died in infancy; four brothers and four sisters.

Mrs. Harmon was a member of the First Christian Church at Aline, the Rebekah Lodge and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Avery (Ruby Mae) Carter, Yates Center, Kansas, Mrs. Gary (Mildred) Krapple, Midwest City and Mrs. Marvin (Medeline) Melrose, Wichita, Kansas; five grandchildren and eight great – grandchildren.
