Aline Star Cemetery



Funeral services for Eldon E. Cook, age 98, of Aline, will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2008, at the Aline Christian Church with Polly Young officiating. Burial will follow at Aline Star Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Helena. Viewing will be 1-8 p.m. today with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.lanman memorials.com.

Eldon E. Cook was born on December 7, 1909, at Burlington to Louis Cook and Mary Thomason Cook and passed from this life on January 18, 2008, at Greenbrier Nursing Home in Enid.

He graduated from Burlington High School in 1929. On July 12, 1931, he married Zola Marsh and five children were born to this union: Betty Jean, Paul, Polly Ann, Floyd and Doris. They farmed in the Burlington-Byron area until moving to a farm east of Aline in 1941. They retired from farming in 1982, and moved to Aline in 1999.

Eldon was active in the Aline Christian Church, Chamber of Commerce and helped in getting the Aline Senior Center started. Eldon and Zola enjoyed traveling and the highlight of their travel was driving to Alaska with two cousins in 1984. They spent the winters in south Texas for 20 years. Zola and Eldon always loved to dance. In 2002, they moved to Somerset Assisted Living Center in Enid. Eldon had resided at Greenbrier Nursing Home in Enid since November 2002.

Eldon is survived by his children, Paul Cook and wife Joan of Helena, Floyd Cook and wife, Joyce of Midwest City, Doris Booze and husband, Gary of Aline; one sister, Inez Hottle, of Purcell; seven grandchildren, Scott Cook, Shari Haivala, Shannon Fistner, Brad Booze, Karla Goodwin, Tina Case and Mark Cook; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Zola in January 2003; two daughters, Betty Jean and Polly Ann; his parents; one brother, Melvin; two sisters, Opal and Hazel; and one great-granddaughter, Abby Goodwin.

Memorials may be given to the church or the Aline Senior Center through the funeral home.
