Wayne Whiteley was born April 7, 1929, in Seminole, Oklahoma to John Hermon Whiteley and Iva (Dunaway) Whiteley. He departed this life March 10, 2009, at his home in Westville, Oklahoma at 79 years of age
Wayne was united in marriage to Katie Coleman in Westville on September 30, 1947 and to their union five children were born. He owned and operated several local businesses including a motel, drive-in and propane company just to name a few. Wayne was a member of the First Baptist Church of Westville and volunteered as a fireman for the Westville Fire Department.
His parents, brother, Larry Whiteley and one son, John Whiteley, all preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn a loving family which includes his wife, Katie Whiteley, of the home; one son, Kelly Whiteley and wife, Becky, of Westville; three daughters, Kathy Furlong and husband, Neal, of Springfield, OR, Linda Rice, of Westville, Kandace Streun and husband, Jeff, of Sallisaw, OK; 17 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; two sisters Evon Price, of Marlow, OK and Loamma Coleman Hall, of Grove, OK. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones also survive him.
Funeral services were held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009, at First Baptist Church of Westville with Bro. Joe White officiating. Interment followed at Westville City Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Westville.
