Services for Nellie Buffington Tennant, 99, Westville will be held today (Thursday) at Hart Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bill Buttram officiating. Interment will be in the Westville City Cemetery.

She was born March 24, 1894 in Westville, Indian Territory, to Thomas Calvin and Sarah Jane Woods and died Sunday, August 1, 1993 in Siloam Springs (Arkansas) Memorial Hospital.

She was a life-long resident of the Westville area, and a member of more than 50 years of the Order of Eastern Star and a member of the First Christian Church.

She was married in 1909 in Westville to Jay Buffington, who preceded her in death in 1948. She was married in 1949 in Lincoln, Arkansas to John Tennant who preceded her in death in 1965.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; two sons, Thomas Mitchell Buffington, and Owen (Hungry) Buffington; one grandson; five brothers; four sisters.

Survivors include one daughter, Faynelle Bowles, Westville; one son, Ernest Buffington, Baron; one step-son Roy Tennant, Westville; two grandsons, Admiral Jackie Buffington of Washington, D. C. and Gene Buffington, Westville; two granddaughters, Dr. Ann Leinn McLain, Blue Springs, Missouri and Dr. Cindy Buffington, Memphis, Tennessee; five great grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Forrest Woods, Stilwell and Oliver Woods, Westville.
