Our community has again been made sad by the loss of another well known pioneer lady in the death of Mrs. G. F. SIMMONS, age 81, who died here early Saturday morning after a brief illness with pneumonia.
Mrs. SIMMONS was born December 19th, 1856 at Dresden, Tennessee, and on June 11, 1874, became the wife of George F. SIMMONS who preceded her in death here on October 15, 1928. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Baptist church with Rev. J. D. WATKINS, officiating.
The pallbearers were grandsons: Floyd BARNES, Joy Lee POYNOR, Raymond SIMMONS, Bobby SIMMONS, Glenn REYNOLDS and Billy Clark REYNOLDS. Burial was made in the city cemetery.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. E. E. GREGG, Miami; Mrs. Will COLLYGE, Garden Grove, Calif.; and Mrs. Nola BARNES, Mrs. Walter POYNOR and Mrs. C. F. REYNOLDS all of Westville and two sons, Sonk SIMMONS and Pete SIMMONS, Westville.
