Marion Lowell Shipley, son of Guy and Zellastene (Ross) Shipley, was born on February 4, 1940 in Coolidge, Arizona and passed from this life on Friday, August 19, 2011 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 71 years, 6 months and 15 days.
He led a very active and interesting life. Lowell graduated from high school in Odessa, Texas. He was a tugboat captain and traveled many of the local waterways. Lowell served his country as a parachutist in the 101st Airborne during the Vietnam War, making 137 jumps and was a drummer for the 101st Airborne Air Force Band. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved motorcycles, hunting and fishing. He lived life to its fullest. Lowell was a hard worker and a generous person. He was always there with a smile and helping hand. He will be greatly missed by his family and multitude of friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents: Guy and Zellastene Shipley.
He is survived by a loving family that includes his wife: Kadon Shipley of the home in Proctor, OK, children: Marian Ann Brown and husband Michael of Montgomery, TX, Scott Shipley and wife Doris of Huntington, TX, Ross Shipley of Channelview, TX, stepsons: Ronnie Thomas and wife Diane of Spring, TX, Dale Thomas and wife Kelly of Cypress, TX, Mike Moseley and wife Wendy of Victoria, TX, grandchildren: Haley Ragsdale, Dustin Ragsdale, Crystal Stanberry, Michael Shipley, Zachary Shipley, Darian and Braden Shipley, Tara Thomas, Tyler Thomas, great grandchild: Jed Carter Stanberry, sister: Sharron Massey, many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 22, 2011 at Roberts Chapel, Westville, OK with Bro. Jim Wilkerson officiating. Interment followed at Westville City Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
