Opal C. McGuire, 91, of Jefferson City, MO, passed away March 1, 2008 at the Moniteau Care Center in California, MO.

She was born March 20, 1916 in Seymour, MO, a daughter of William Elisha and Julia Angeline (Reeves) Sweet.
Opal had an eventful life and liked to reminisce about the family from Seymour, MO to Westville, OK arond 1920 in a covered wagon.

She loved to play dominoes, crochet, and when younger, go camping and trout fishing.

Opal was known by her many friends as a generous, kind and helpful lady.

During World War II, Opal aided the war effort by being a real life "Rosie the Riverter" in a factory in Los Angelas, CA.

Opal also worked for the U.S. Post office in Prairie Grove, AR., but the job she found most rewarding was a homemaker after marrying the love of her life, Walter M. McGuire on November 12, 1950 in Wichita, KS.
Opal is survived by son; Bill McGuire and his wife Benda of Jefferson City, MO., and therir children; Travis, Olathe, KS, Kayla, Springfield, MO., and Laura, Jefferson City, MO., step-son; Kerry McGuire, Marietta, GA,. and step-daughter; Mona Halliburton, Severy, KS., and nieces; Alleen Lockard, Mountain Grove, AR., Shirley Carlton, Westville, OK., Glenda Ashley, Bakerfield, CA., and nephews; Bud Sweet, Colcord, OK., and Doyle Sweet, Springfield, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Walter, sister; Velda Ragsdale, Westville, OK., three brothers; Edgar, Springfield, MO., Louie, Westville, OK., and Glen, Fellows, CA., nieces; Helen Fishinghawk, Locust Grove, OK., and Laverne Wheeler, Springfield, MO., and hephews; Roy Ragsdale, Fruita, CO., and Harry Sweet, Springfield, MO.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4th, at the Roberts Funeral Home in Westville, OK.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5th at Westville City Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home in Westville, OK.
