Deanna Marie “Dee” Burton Handcock, daughter of Author Manuel and Anna Maye Grubb Burton, was born on August 26, 1948 in Cunard, West Virginia and departed this life on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore, Oklahoma at 71 years of age.

She married Oscar Lee “Dutch” Handcock on July 28, 1970 in Wheeling, Illinois.


“Dee” was preceded in death by her parents, Author and Anna Burton, husband Oscar Handcock, and mother- in-law Mildred Palmer.


She is survived by her son Mathew Handcock and wife Robin of Suisun City, Calif.; daughters Monya Zelenak of Streator, Ill. and Darlene Palmer and husband Stephen of Cainsville, Mo.; twelve grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; brother Arthur Burton Jr and wife Alisa of Davae City, Philippines; sisters Freda Schmeichel and husband Walter of Morrow, Ohio and Carolyn Burgess of Bloomfield, Ind., she also leaves behind a multitude of nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.
 

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Roberts & Hart Chapel, Westville, with Bro. Terry Wofford officiating.

Interment followed at Westville City Cemetery.
