Robert Don Cagle
September 12, 1918 - October 24, 2008
U.S. Veteran Westville, OK - Robert Don Cagle, born September 12, 1918, passed away peacefully at the Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on October 24, 2008.
Beloved husband of almost sixty-two years of Maxine (Thurman) Cagle. Loving father of Gary Cagle and wife Lynn of Owasso and Mike Cagle and wife Janet of Conway, Arkansas.
He is survived also by grandsons Brian Cagle and wife Connie of Bethany; Matt Cagle and wife Amanda of Oologah; step-grandson Aaron Pollock and wife Heather of Owasso; step-granddaughter Beth Adele of Edmond; several great grand children (Alex, Braden, Cortney, Landon, Dac, Kamron and Collin); two sisters, Betty Morris of Westville and Ina Greiner of Tulsa; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Robert Don was born at Baron to the late Charlie and Bessie Cagle.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1938 through 1945 in the 62nd Armored Field Artillery in WWII on the front lines for 412 days. He was on the campaigns of Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy (Omaha Beach), Northern France, Rhineland, Ardenues-Alsace and Central Europe. He received the Bronze Star.
He was an electrician for Ozarks Electric in Westville for over twenty-two years.
Donations may be made in Don’s memory to Westville First United Methodist Church.
Family visitation will be from 10 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at Hart Funeral Home in Westville.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 26, 2008 in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Brian Cagle, Matt Cagle, Aaron Pollock, Jackie Smith, Jim Bagby and Wayne Collins. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Williams, Terry Luther, Rick Gregory, Noel Morris, Burl Wilkie, Tony Cagle, Larry Cagle, Bruce Welch and Roger Welch.
Interment will be at Westville City Cemetery north of Westville.
