Helen E. CARTER was born in New York state, and moved to Westville in 1903.

When she came here she was the wife of Major Von HARTMAN, who died some 17 years later.

She was then married to Mr. R.T. CARTER, who died several years ago.
Mrs. CARTER was active in civic and church affairs, before her health failed. which has confined her to her home for the past several years. She has served as worthy matron of the Eastern Star Chapter and was made a life long member of this organization. She has been a life long member of the Presbyterian church and has been very active in this work. It was the giving up of her church duties that grieved her most.
Mrs. CARTER died May 31st,1947 the outcome of an attack of influenza from which she was never able to recover.
She is well known throughout this community and state, having been engaged in the real estate business for many years.

Mrs. CARTER was in sympathy with the under privileged people of this town, and it was through her kindness that many have been helped and encouraged.
Survivors include one son, Charles ROBINSON, of Chicago, Illinois, two granddaughters, Helen and Dorothy, both of Chicago, and three step daughters. One son preceded her in death about three years ago.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at the Roberts Funeral Home. Burial was in the Westville Cemetery.
